It was a wonderful vacation — exactly the kind of holiday I had dreamed of. A small, very cozy island, authentic and beautiful. We stayed in a white villa with a pool and a stunning view of the ocean. Just a few meters from the lagoon where the house reef is located. You step out of your villa, dive in — and you’re already among marine life. We really enjoyed the restaurants — delicious food, themed dishes every day, desserts, and fresh fruits. There is a special menu for children, and even porridge for breakfast. I had worried unnecessarily about my child’s meals — she ate with great pleasure. My daughter absolutely loved the kids’ club. There are plenty of toys and even a dedicated pool. Children from the age of three can be left under the supervision of a nanny. The staff are lovely and know how to keep kids engaged. We even brought home a whole bag of her crafts. She happily stayed to play, while I could relax and enjoy snorkeling. Snorkeling at Vilu Reef is a special kind of joy! The reef is beautiful and large, located just a few meters from the shore. I would like to thank the hotel staff for their warm welcome, attentiveness, and kindness. Special thanks to our manager, Aliya, who was always in touch and helped us with any questions. We would love to come back again! ✨
We had a wonderful 12-night stay at Vilu Reef over the festive period as a family of four (two adults, children aged 7 and 10) on an all-inclusive package. The staff were consistently warm, welcoming, and genuinely attentive, making us feel well cared for throughout our stay. They also have many special themed events on during the festive period which added to the fun of the holiday. Location The island is a 45 minute seaplane ride from Male and is quite contained and very picturesque. It only takes about 15 minutes to walk around so no buggies or bikes are needed and it has a good amount of tree coverage on footpaths but can get hot on the beach or in uncovered areas. Snorkelling on the house reef is great for seeing colorful fish but the waves can get rough so they have a flag system to guide you on the safety of snorkelling that changes each day. Food & Beverage We ate most meals at Aqua, which offered an excellent variety of South Asian and Western dishes, live cooking stations, and strong vegetarian options. A special thank you to Chef Chaminda for the delicious Sri Lankan food. We were beautifully looked after by Asmita, Rita, Vijay, Shayanta, Imran, Sagar, Zayan, and Aman, who also helped welcome us each meal and gave the place a homely feel and helped to celebrate my birthday. The teams at Nautilus and the Pool Bar were equally attentive—thank you to Ali, Sri Ram, Readdy, and Thusara. Chef Nithin regularly checked in for feedback, which reflected strong and thoughtful leadership. Housekeeping & Maintenance We were in an Overwater Sunset Villa which fitted our family well for our stay with great sunset views over the water. Our room was cleaned twice daily to a very high standard. A plumbing issue was addressed promptly, and we were upgraded the following day. Thank you to Dipak and Esrail for regularly checking in, with special mention to Dipak for the thoughtful touches, including celebratory messages and complimentary drinks. Thanks also to Ferodous for his thorough cleaning. Kids Club The Kids Club offered a great range of activities, and our children were very well looked after—special thanks to Sam. Opening hours is usually 9am-1pm then 2pm until 8pm but hours varied during the festive season due to other resort activities being on. Host Finally, thank you to Zidh, our host, who was extremely responsive via WhatsApp, kept us informed of daily events, and assisted with bookings for the dolphin cruise and manta/whale shark tour. Overall, a fantastic family holiday supported by an outstanding team.
Our stay at Vilu Reef was truly a dream come true. The setting is stunning, but what really stood out were the exceptional resort services. From the seamless organization and luggage transfer to the warmest welcome upon arrival (special thanks to Summer!)—with refreshing fresh coconut water (much appreciated!)—we immediately felt relaxed and cared for. We stayed in the pool villa, which was beautifully cleaned daily by the incredibly kind Sakhawat. The gardeners’ maintenance was impeccable. The resort and island are both intimate in size (which is why we chose it), surrounded by lush greenery, and offer a full range of services for both adults and children. We were pleasantly surprised by the food options: thoughtfully sustainable with many plant-based dishes. We were also lucky enough to experience the beach events at night three times, which were wonderful. Special thanks to Shayan, our fantastic waiter, who played with our daughter throughout our stay, along with Roji. When our flight was delayed, the staff kindly offered us extended access to their lounge, which was a huge help with our 2-year-old. The lounge features a lovely kids’ play area as well as food and beverages, making the wait much more comfortable.
